Few weeks ago we had an opportunity to make a birthday cake for Bernard’s 86th surprise birthday party. When Marshall came in for a tasting consultation he told amazing stories about his dad and his life. He wanted to incorporate things that his dad enjoyed in life. His dad was involved in building and real estate business all his life. Since he was a little boy he moved countless number of times. He likes to play poker and loves fishing. We have made poker chips, playing cards and fishing pole out of sugar.
His favorite Acapella group performed at the concert on his birthday. Bernie lived in an amazing retirement community at Ann’s Choice in Warminster. We were so surprised what the place had to offer, the galore of activities they offer. To represent the real estate and builder part of him we made a 2D houses around the bottom tier, each house had a different number and included “For Sale”, “SolD” signs.
Bernard’s hobby was his Ford A 1928 therefor we made a topper with LED headlights. His birthday is on Valentines day so we incorporated hearts to represent love from his family, his dear wife Marie, his family and friends.
We were so proud to be a part of this amazing celebration.
The flavors of the cake were chocolate cake with French cream, coconut cake with caramel, vanilla cake with passion fruit buttercream.
Happy Birthday Bernie!
Here is what his family had to say after the party:
“Everything was wonderful! My dad was delighted, we had a mob enjoying the cake. More than half got eaten, and many people had to try multiple flavors.
Lots of people thought I was from your store. I’ve never cut so much cake in my life!
Thanks for making it happen”
