We were really excited to make this gorgeous wedding cake for Marina and Dima. They are both computer programmers and both like elegant looking cakes with a twist. Marina liked one of our cakes and mentioned that she likes sequins and that she will have a whimsical flower in her hair on her wedding day.
The top tier was decorated in silver sequins ( each individually cut out of fondant), hand painted with edible silver. Middle tier was decorated in a tufted billow weave patter and centers were edible sugar buttons. Bottom tier continued the look of sequins dripping down the cake. Custom whimsical pink flowers added extra drama to the cake.
It may look simple and elegant but it was very time consuming.
We took this wedding cake with us to the wedding in 90 degree heat, through a storm, and up to NY. While nerve wrecking, it was worth it. The cake arrived safely .They loved the cake and we loved the wedding.
The flavors of the cake were chocolate cake with sour cherries and cream, vanilla cake with passion fruit Bavarian cream, vanilla cake with hazelnut meringues and chocolate buttercream.
